    Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

  1. What is the average credit score? It appears to be unknown. Reports vary. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency, cites a 714 average FICO credit score (citing the median), but only uses the indefinite article "one" ("of the CRAs") to describe the consumer reporting agency it came from.
  2. What is so important about the average? A measure of central tendency, the median, as the average, is perhaps the most fundamental statistic about credit scores.
